Inclement weather
Good Afternoon Everyone, The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Mobile County for tomorrow morning, Friday, January 21. After consulting with our leadership team, we have decided with an abundance of caution for our staff and families to cancel classes on Friday, January 21. We will resume our regular schedule on Monday, January 24. All homecoming activities for this weekend will be rescheduled for a day in February to be announced at a later date. Inclement weather and school closure.
A reminder regarding inclement weather and school closure. As per the Student Handbook, page 20, GSCS will follow Mobile County Public Schools regarding a possible closure for Hurricane Ida. If MCPSS makes an official statement via local news media regarding closure, GSCS will close as well. If there is a closure, we will inform our parents by Facebook, Headmaster, website news, and teacher communication when GSCS will resume classes.

Our COVID policy
Dear Parents, Thank you for being a part of Government Street Christian School. Our staff have been planning and preparing for a successful school year. As we have now commenced this academic year, we want to remind you of our COVID policy. The policy is based on guidance by Alabama Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control. Please note that this guidance is subject to change depending on the status of COVID-19 in Mobile County. For more detailed information regarding this guidance visit Schools K-12 | Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) (alabamapublichealth.gov) or Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) | CDC. Contact Tracing and Quarantine Requirements-The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) recommend wearing masks. If a student or faculty member test positive for COVID-19, we will conduct contact tracing to determine those students and or faculty that meet the standards for close contact. A school employee or staff member will notify close contacts directly and provide instructions related to quarantine or isolation. Individuals who test positive for or are diagnosed with COVID-19 must stay home for 10 days following the onset of symptoms or the positive test result, be 24 hours without fever or fever-reducing medications, and experience symptom improvement before returning from isolation. Congratulations are in order for our seniors, Alicia Jones, Cady Shaw, and Devonte Howard. Alicia scored a 29 on her ACT exam, Cady has been accepted into the University of South Alabama, and Devonte has been accepted into Miles College. Together, two of our seniors have already been awarded over $20,000 in scholarships!
